Have you always wanted to learn how to blacksmith? In this weekend course you will learn the fundamental skills of forging.

Immerse yourself in the hands-on world of blacksmithing by forging essential tools of the trade. Through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice, you will learn safety around hot steel and equipment, plus get hands on creating tools of the trade. If a blacksmith needs a tool, they make it, and you will be doing exactly that. By the end of this weekend, you will have developed some of the foundational skills and knowledge that have been used by blacksmiths for centuries. These can then be used as the required training for more advanced courses (Coming 2027).

What Goes Down

This course is spread over a weekend (Friday night 6 - 9pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am - 5pm) which includes instructional time and hands on learning. Note, this is a very physical craft and the forge is hot. Ensure you are prepared for an intense and fun weekend of learning!

Location: Southside Edmonton, AB
Cost: $750
Includes: All materials, tools, safety gear, and instruction
Group size: 6 students max.
Skill level: Zero experience required — first-timers welcome and encouraged
What to wear: Closed-toe shoes, cotton shirt (short sleeves preferred), jeans or cotton pants required. Be aware clothing may be damaged by sparks, so wear older work clothes. We provide aprons, gloves, and safety glasses. All long hair must be pulled back and jewelry removed.
